www.zuul.fr WEBSITE INTRO!

I had the pleasure of being asked by Maracuja and Boss from Zuul to help with an intro for the revamped website for French ST crew, ZUUL (http://www.zuul.fr/).

So, after some discussions and design ideas, here is the finished result, which can be seen on their website also!

Enjoy this old school ST inspired introscreen! :-)

Been busy!

Just to let you know that I havn't been ignoring the remake scene recently.... just very busy on a particular remake!
It's a massive project, 16 screens, plus three "hidden" elements, and then loader, decrunch elements etc..

Basically, with the help of some of the CODEF guys, I am working on a complete remake of the legendary SO WATT DEMO by TCB (and friends)!!

It's very close, and we only have 1 screen to do, and one more to complete.... trust me, it'll be worth it!

Keep watching this space! :-)

Vector Lame Zcreen from So Watt on the Atari ST!

Another screen from the So Watt Demo makes its way onto your browser!!
This time it is the Lame Zcreen by Vector!
(Admittedly this screenshot doesn't look that exciting, but this is a nice screen featuring some cool David Whittaker music, and a nice bob effect on the logo!)

http://codef.namwollem.co.uk/vector_lame.html

This screen has iOS sound support - and is the first time I have ever managed to get the Ultimate Ripper Cartridge to work on STeem, so that I could rip the font GFX and the scrolltext! :-)

AD Demo by Nordik Coders from the ST So Watt Demo!

This is another screen from the legendary So Watt demo from the Atari ST. I made this screen a couple of years ago, and it was OK, but not 100%. This re-remake moves it closer to that figure!

The font is sized correctly, the scroller is positioned correctly, and the dist-EQ now operates much closer to the original, with each channel individually moving, as opposed to all three moving as one!

I've also added the obligatory So Watt loader/decruncher to complete the effect! Enjoy!

WEBGL Babylon.JS with CODEF!

After seeing some really nice effects, and the easy to use interface of 'Babylon.js', I wanted to see if it could be integrated into a CODEF canvas.
Initially I could not get the two elements to "play nicely" together, so after speaking to one of the creators, and getting some help, I was able to get this rather nice example to work on a CODEF canvas!

The "camera" can be rotated using the cursor keys to vary the effect!

So Watt Demo TCB Sprite Record Screen!

As I work through the So Watt demo from the ST, I thought I would do a quick and easy screen..... one that someone else has already done!

Awesome coder NewCore made this screen a couple of years ago, so by borrowing his mathematics (which he had lifted from the original code by Leonard), and ripped GFX, I have just resized the screen, and added the decrunch etc.. and a kind of joint-production I guess is here for you!!

A demo for ZUUL....

A small demoscreen for ZUUL..... (thanks to Boss of Zuul for the ideas....).
After last night, a small tribute has been added to the introduction....

Fashion "First Screen" from So Watt on the ST!

Another remake from the mighty "So Watt" Demo from the Atari ST, this time in the form of the "First Screen" by Fashion (with some help from TCB)!!

iOS sound supported - so everyone can play! :-)

http://codef.namwollem.co.uk/fashion.html

iOS sound now "live" on the website!

Just a quick heads-up for people going to my website! I have now written a new index page for my CODEF site which auto-detects if you are viewing from an iOS device or not, and depending on the outcome, will direct you to the relevant page!

http://codef.namwollem.co.uk/

So, if you are from a PC, or Android device, you should see this...

...and iOS users should see this...

Obviously the iOS uses touch events to scroll thru the screens, in the style of the old "cover flow" style! The web-audio will not work, so is replaced with MP3 sound - which will autoload, but requires a touch event to begin (as per the norm with iOS sound).

Either way, enjoy! :-)

Rockford Crack by The Exceptions (ST)

Another quick Atari ST remake for you, in the form of the Rockford cracktro by ST legends, The Exceptions!

A nice simple screen from "back in the day", but a few nice elements!

** iOS sound supported also! **

Xmas 2006 intro by Atari Legend (AKA "Foodfight") remake!

The Xmas 2006 Intro by Atari Legend (A.K.A. Foodfight) - coded by Stax!
A nice intro I found whilst digging thru some Atari archives, and thought deserved a nice CODEF remake treatment - so here you go! This has the added bonus of iOS sound support too! ;-) Enjoy!

A new retro inspired screen! The 'VDU' demoscreen by Mellow Man!

Here is my latest screen, the 'VDU' demoscreen, very much inspired by Retro computer stuff from the past - featuring some cool Matt Gray music from Bangkok Knights, and the WEBGL CRT shader fx by Frutbunn!

Simple, but I like it! Enjoy!

http://codef.namwollem.co.uk/SID_eq.html

NOTE: Already uploaded a bugfix - small issue with EQ now fixed!

FURTHER NOTE: Even though it works fine for me on Chrome, Chromium, Chrome Canary, Firefox, Firefox Developer Edition, Opera & EDGE running on Windows 7 & 10, it DOES NOT work on Safari, IE, and UBUNTU! For you guys, use this URL instead, which removes the WEBGL component which seems to be causing the issue.

The First Amiga Demo by Chaos! (Remade in HTML5 with CODEF)

Another remake for you this evening, this is the 'First Demo' by Chaos from 1989 on the Amiga! Cool tune, simple retro effects, but altogether a nice screen, and well worth a CODEF tribute! :-) Enjoy!

http://codef.namwollem.co.uk/chaos_firstscreen.html

NOTE: iOS sound is supported, although I have been told of some issues with iOS 9 - it works fine on iOS 7 & 8.....

Ski or Die! by Aurora from the Amiga

I saw a cool cracktro from the Amiga by Aurora for 'Skate Or Die!', and like it so much I thought it was time for an quick 30 minute CODEF remake!

Music using the Future Composer branch of FLOD, and iOS sound support from an MP3!

http://codef.namwollem.co.uk/aurora.html

Friday 2 October 2015

Krabat Intro II from the Commodore 64, remade in HTML5 with CODEF!

I saw this really cool C64 intro by Krabat the other day, so I thought it deserved a CODEF remake, so I did one! Here it is! Enjoy!

http://codef.namwollem.co.uk/krabat_intro.html

Its features some cool .SID music by Matt Gray, from Ark Pandora, and the .MP3 version is available for iOS users too!

SAE Weapon demo from the Amiga! :-)

Yes, I've finished it!! With the invaluable help of AWSM with some "beta testing", I was able to finish off my latest Amiga remake!

The second ever screen I made about two years ago with CODEF was a very loosely based "homage" to this great demo, but I thought it deserved remaking properly!

This one took about 6 days all in to make, in order to get as much of the original recreated as accurately as I could.

A couple of things, the original scroll text was over 20KB, so I've only put about a quarter of the original text in, and also the original had effects on the bob sprites when Joystick #2 was used, I mapped these to the cursor keys in my remake!

Apart from that, I'm very happy with it, so I hope you like it!

BE WARNED - it EATS processor time, so slower machines may struggle in places, but those of you with decent machines should be able to enjoy it!

UPDATE: Now includes iOS audio support!

Another re-remake! Level 16 Fullscreen from The Union Demo on the ST!

Seeing as I'd started on the re-remake thing, I needed a quick fix, and seeing as I'd already recently tidied this screen up to be used as part of my STNICCC2015 Invitro screen, it didn't take much to bring out a nice new re-remake of the Level16 classic Fullscreen demo, part of the legendary ST megademo, The Union Demo! Enjoy!

http://codef.namwollem.co.uk/level16.html

EDIT: Now includes iOS audio support!!

Flash Inc. 'The Match' cracktro from the C64

I found this rather cool C64 intro on the CSDB, and thought it deserved a CODEF remake, so last night I started it - and completed the iOS sound support this afternoon after work!

Fantastic SID tune, and nice font! Enjoy!

WEBGL CRT Shader effect

Using the cool CRT shader effect from "Frutbunn", and his CODEF_responsive_canvas lib, I applied the effect to one of my old favourite screens, and came up with this...

Thanks to Dave Eggleston (AKA Frutbunn) for his cool script, and for letting me use it!

Un-named ULM intro screen from the Atari ST

From the 'Unlimited Matricks' (ULM) came this "un-named" intro screen from the ST!
I had the "itch" to do another ST remake, and this classy old screen fitted the bill, so here it is in CODEF HTML5 for you to enjoy!

The EQ isn't quite right, as always is the way with the music libraries when compared to the original ST (or Amiga, or C64 etc. etc.) code!

So Watt Demo Intro Screen from the Atari ST, remade in CODEF!

Well, as I'd already done a couple of screens from the 'So Watt' demo, it seemed that I might as well do another.... so I chose the rather simple, but very cool looking Intro Screen!

Sadly no iOS sound on this one, as the EQ won't work anyway - as the calcs are done using the codef_music lib, which iOS ignores.... so best to view on a PC/Mac/Linux machine on a modern browser (Chrome-ium etc.)!

Sync Fullscreen from the Atari ST So Watt Demo!

U

Another classic Atari ST demoscreen remake for you tonight people! This is the Sync Fullscreen part of the awesome 'So Watt' Demo by TCB and a bunch of others! :-)

Once again, iOS friendly sound, so everyone can enjoy what was (at the time) a stunning Fullscreen demo on the ST back in the day!

P.S. Now updated to include the proportional scroller!

The 'Death Demo' by The 2 Life Crew, from the So Watt Megademo on the Atari ST!

From the mighty "So Watt" demo on the Atari ST, comes the "Death Demo" by The 2 Life Crew, with music by -An Cool- from TCB!

Another old fave screen of mine from back in the day - remade in CODEF, and supporting iOS touch events and sound!

http://codef.namwollem.co.uk/death_demo.html

Enjoy! :-)

An Cools 'Acid Burn 2' demo from the Atari ST remake!

A few years ago, I did a really bad remake of the old Atari ST 'Acid Burn' demo.... which was OK, but not really very accurate to the original, so I went back and did a new remake, with the correct graphics, music, and scroller etc..

A bit mad, but an old fave of mine from the ST days.... enjoy!

iOS sound is supported also!!

TCB Fullscreen Demo from the Cuddly Demos (ST) re-remake! (with iOS sound!)

Time for a quick re-remake tonight! This time I thought I'd refresh my remake of the TCB Fullscreen demo, part of the Cuddly Demos' Megademo on the ST.

Corrected screen resolution, added the fact that the scrolltexts dip a couple of pixels every screen width (which wasn't present in my old remake), and also used HOWLER.JS instead of CODEF_MUSIC.JS, which means that there is better sample looping!

UPDATE: New v2 HOWLER.JS in use, so iOS sound now working! :-)
